What do we expect during this scan?
Preparation
Arrive with an empty bladder, avoid douching or vaginal medications 24 hours prior, and inform your provider if you're pregnant or suspect pregnancy.
Procedure
Clinician will place a condom and a warm lubricating gel on the transducer & gently insert it inside your vagina to capture images of your pelvic organs.
How long it takes?
It typically takes between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the type and complexity. Your clinician will inform you if additional time is needed.
Risk & Limitations
Ultrasound scans are safe and accurate, and non-invasive, but mild discomfort or anxiety may occur, and body habitus can affect image quality.
What can I expect after the scan?
After the scan, there are three possible outcomes:
– For routine cases, you will receive your report via email within 24 hours.
– For urgent cases, the report will be provided within 12 hours, and with your consent, a referral to your GP can be made.
– For critical cases, the report will include an urgent note recommending immediate hospitalization.
Results
- Scan results will be emailed to you within 24 hours..
- Critical scan results will be referred to your GP or hospital .

- A follow-up procedure may be scheduled if any concerns.
